mTreeIllustrator: A Mixed-Initiative Framework for Visual Exploratory Analysis of Multidimensional Hierarchical Data

Multidimensional hierarchical (mTree) data are very common in daily life and scientific research. However, mTree exploration is a laborious time-consuming process due to its structural complexity large dimension combination space. To address this problem, we present mTreeIllustrator, mixed-initiative framework for exploratory analysis of multidimensional with faceted visualizations. First, propose recommendation pipeline the automatic selection visual representation important subspaces data. Furthermore, design an interaction schema couple recommendations human specifications facilitate progressive analysis. Comparative experiments user studies demonstrate usability effectiveness our framework.
